Declan Sadler Bluff City, TN Accident; Josh and Chelsea Sadler Son Declan Sadler Tragically Dies at Age 4, Loved Ones Mourn

With heavy hearts and unimaginable grief, the family of Declan Vance Sadler announces the tragic passing of their beloved son. Declan, just shy of his fourth birthday, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in an accident in Cataula, Georgia, surrounded by the things he loved most—his family and his monster trucks. His sudden loss has devastated not only his family but also the entire Bluff City, Tennessee, and surrounding communities that knew and loved him.

Born on July 5, 2021, in Johnson City, TN, Declan was the cherished son of Josh and Chelsea Sadler. He was a radiant and playful soul who touched countless lives in just under four years. Though small in years, Declan was mighty in personality. With sparkling eyes and a wide smile, he lit up every room he entered, spreading laughter, warmth, and pure joy to those around him.

Declan’s days were filled with the wonder and excitement of a child who truly loved life. His favorite things included monster trucks, trains—especially Thomas the Tank Engine—dinosaurs, fire trucks, and anything related to Mario or Hot Wheels. He loved playing outside, going on rides at Dollywood, and jumping into pools or chasing bubbles and balloons. His laughter could often be heard echoing across backyards or church hallways as he explored the world around him with boundless curiosity.

A proud Georgia Bulldogs fan, Declan also recently completed his first season of T-ball with the Bristol Little League Cubs—a milestone that brought him immense joy. He had also just mastered potty training and was incredibly proud of this big-kid achievement, proudly announcing his accomplishment to family and friends. His excitement about his upcoming monster truck-themed fourth birthday party was palpable—he had talked about it for weeks and had already picked out his favorite decorations.

Declan’s world was anchored by the love of his parents, Josh and Chelsea, and his three loyal puppy dog siblings: Lincoln, Lucy, and Loki. He adored pajama days spent with his mama and daddy, snuggling in close and sharing laughter and hugs. Declan’s faith was also a sweet part of his young life—he loved Jesus and shared that love in his own innocent, yet deeply touching ways. His presence was a constant source of joy at Boones Creek Christian Church, Avoca Pre-School, and GUMP, where teachers and friends alike were impacted by his kind and adventurous spirit.

Those who knew Declan will forever remember his gentle heart, his appreciation for every small gift, and the way he expressed excitement over even the simplest pleasures. His gratitude, even at such a young age, was a testament to the beautiful character developing within him.

Declan is survived by his devoted parents, Josh and Chelsea Sadler; his puppy dogs Lincoln, Lucy, and Loki; his loving grandparents: Tonya Smith-Ludlow (“Hunny”), Sam and Gina Sumpter (“Pop Pop and Gigi”); great-grandparents Ron and Janice Shelton (“Mamaw and Papaw”), Janice Partin Smith (“Nana”), Georgie and Butch Wheeler, and Sam Sumpter Sr. He also leaves behind his treasured aunt and uncle, John and Hannah Sumpter (“Nana and JJ”), and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, church family, and caregivers who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

A celebration of Declan’s beautiful life will be held at Boones Creek Christian Church, with the date and time to be announced. The Sadler family appreciates the love, prayers, and support being extended to them during this heartbreaking time and asks for continued prayers as they mourn the loss of their precious little boy.
